Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, for your eye exam,  we are able to direct bill many insurance providers. Please refer to Insurance Coverage for more information.

Please bring any current glasses or contact lenses, your health card, and sunglasses (in the event of dilation)

Should you plan to use insurance, please bring your policy card. 

OHIP covers an eye exam once every 12 months for children 19 and under and seniors 65 and over. 

Certain patients between the ages of 20 and 64 are eligible for OHIP coverage once a year if they have a specific underlying medical or eye conditions.

OHIP does not cover contact lens fittings or contact lens assessments, which are required for contact lens wearing patients.

Yes. ODSP or Ontario Works recipients are eligible for a routine eye exam once every 24 months.

To confirm your ongoing eligibility for ODSP or OW, please bring a copy of your most recent Benefit Period. Please also bring your health card to confirm eligibility for coverage at the time of the examination. 

Yes. IFHP recipients are eligible for a routine eye exam once every 24 months. To confirm your ongoing eligibility for IFHP, please bring your IFHP documentation. 

Dilating drops widen the pupil (the black part of your eye) so that it doesn’t get smaller when your doctor shines a light at it. The widened pupil allows your optometrist to provide a thorough assessment of the inside of your eye.
